Computer replace books- agrees or disagrees

The function of computer covered spread message, analysis, search and more brilliant multi points. The main function of Book are save and propagate information, it is also the one of the function of computer. Talking to function, there two are overlap. When people use tools in their daily life, they more focus on more convenient and multi-function, thus this tool will be universalness. Such as people use electric lamp replace candle, electric lamp can be more convenient in people’s live. Book depend on picture and word to disseminate message. But computer cover book’s feature and also have more, faster and extensive strengths. More is the computer can use less space to reserve more information, Multimedia devices included listen, speak, interaction and watch. When you in study, this function let more interesting; Faster is computer can edit, spread and research very convenient. People can read information online from whole world; The propagation purpose of computer is extensive, dissemination of information is not limit, but get international under the figures. Compare to time, computer save a lot of information transmission time. In 21 century, it is the outbreak of information age. If people get more information, it means you will be superior about technology and economy. What is more, computer is very general in people’s live, we can see computer everywhere, even the smartest one- Ipad. Ipad is a kind of computer, it is more convenient to bring out. But the function of ipad is same like as computer. More and more bring ipad everywhere to read book, play games, research news and more. Thus it enough cover the function of book.

Different things have different strengths in different field. Some important calligraphy has high collection value in everywhere. Such as ancient books, although the book is not new, but the historical significance, value and status is higher than computer. Even now, some people spend a lot of money to collect an oldest book. To those people, some books have previous meaning to them. For example, in the church, if every Christians hold computer singing hymns, the frame will looks very strange. Singing hymns is a sacred thing and full of historical significance, if just want to following the development of development, the previous tradition will lose. And the situation in court is similar, in western countries, when people vow they must read the words from book. If book change to computer, it means change the law proceedings. Furthermore, if computer totally replace books, blind cannot study from books. They cannot use computer, their only way to receive information is from braille books. If books are disappearing, it equal to they loses the right to study. And book is real, the information all cover on it. If computer has virus to infringement, the documents maybe all lose and need long time to repair. But book is tangible, it do worried about virus.

Thus, for my opinion, computer cannot replace book. Although computer have more multi-media functions, but book also have it own meaning. Like part of books has especially collection value and status, computer cannot achieve it. Through this debate, it related to my 305MC. The main point is about the development of new media tool, such as iphone or ipad these electrical tools. To sum up, computer and book all have important status in different field.

In this interview, I am so lucky can interview with professor John Keenan. His book ‘I am a starbucks worker.. my life no longer belongs to me: the performance of estrangement as a learning tool’ was published in 2013. He is the course leader in advertising and media.

With the growing of internet, especially the increasing range of video website, how do you think about the effect of advertising? Negative more or positive more?

With the change in the internet, do I think advertising is going more power or less power than before. It is everywhere of advertising, I’m gonna say it is more. The advertising just taking over the internet, you can’t gonna pay with that. Its even in moodle, I just notice it just selling space for advertise. So there is more advertise, if you are talking about the impact. It didn’t necessary to meaning having impact, because we got use this things. We can ignore messages a lot easily. So it is a difficult one to say whether more means more impact but suddenly it is everywhere at moment became second nature to have advertise, advertising works is more complicated whether just in the screen it is in the culture are design by is what is trying things and advertise just pointed the directions.

Now with the fast development of internet, mobile phone these kind of new media, traditional media like TV, how do you think it will be keep the advantage? Like face the challenge from new media.

Very well, they just go everywhere. Cookie is for the main thing, so add the paid for click bases now and we go on to start our computers. So that is a new way about advertising, it though click though, so they found a way identify individual to what we do. Till receipts, loyality card, facebook, all this things are ways of mash of test identify the individuals as post of social groups. So they have increate well, in the way they organization just won’t.

Did the new media and traditional media can fuse perfect?

They don’t. Old media are under a lot of strength of moment. They are fighting battle keep themselves valid in the society. Because we get news in anywhere, the thing I supposed think about of media is brand. People do trust brand in many of them, so the guidance, the sun, the BBC, we all survived because they all trust what they brands. New things have to post in common that is what they brand but even so they should be no reason why they all media re-safaring in the way it is been a bad management and re-look to them move online that is in lie of you. They are just no managing to change.

How to understand the relationship between creative and advertising product? Is creative idea will promote a successful advertising?

No, creativity in advertisement is lovely to watch. But it doesn’t necessary means to sales, sales different things. Advertising is not an art form, If you wanna art, you can get art galary. Advertising is send product give product meaning, if creative approach does, such as fandom, it will be very creative. If they mange to send product, then it is a good advertising. Creativity is one of a way to advertisment, but there are many many ways and trying to get yourself within your consuming group. So it becomes a central part of what is means to be that social groups the best way and I pointed jack wills and superdry, which do not advertising and they are successful.

Currently advertising environment increasingly open and advertising platform has been expanding, thus it will face to different audience from different age group. Do you think part of advertising should be control in somewhere?

I don’t think it can. I don’t think it can control anything. I think internet in general is not control by force, usually result from some panic and I thought there is no reason for the panic. I think instead of trying to control the internet, we are a lot better of trying to face what is it and what it does. And advertising is the same, I don’t think you can stop it. If you stop it, they will get range as they always do. And a good example, this is controlling thick range advertisement, they couldn’t and then advertise more creative. Maybe I’m wrong, but it is change the society which change the thing rather than change advertising. I’m not a fan of control, because just the thing give advertising is a new way to get random.

Thus, his answer helped me a lot. Because my dissertation topic is talk about the influence of advertising, his professional answer let me got some new idea in my dissertation. This interview gives me a deep understanding of the relation between new media and old media, creative advertising and advertising force.

This mash up video showed genderization between different people. Sara, A, Kate, D and Jay, G (2007) has said ‘changing gender roles and relationships in later life and the challengers to masculinity with advancing age are newly emerging areas in the study of gender and ageing.’ Thus in the previous video, it role-played the condition and the most of stranger’s thinking is boy can’t wear dress. Also, girl needs to wear dress. But in the latter, same situation the Japanese school promotes sex exchange in one day. Boy wear girls uniform, girl wears boy’s uniform. Change uniform to wear, it is looks interesting, but school want to use this way let students to transpositonal consideration and have a simply touch with the genderization. Here is a huge gap between two video.

This is a famous nursery about motherhood in china. When I am a child, my mom always sings this song let me have a good sleep. Until now, when I am in insomnia, this song will auto play in my mind. Obviously, this song gives me a really beautiful memory. Song is not long and lyrics is easy, but the song full of love and affection for the mom.

Also, my favorite movie uses this song to run through all story and to be a theme song to link the topic of movie. The movie called [my beloved], it is a story about promotes family ethics from Taiwan produced on 1988. When I was at kindergarten, it is my first time to go to cinema to watch this movie. And when the movie finished, many audiences all cried. Thus I have strong memory about it. After many years, I re-watched this movie, it also shocked me a lot.

Firstly, it is the script. In that time, commercial film is very popular in china. Although pathos movie is not universal, but it suitable with the chinese people’s mentality. It reflected the prevailing cultural phenomenon and audience’s psychology. Perhaps it gives people a good feeling to vent port. The story itself is not some special or amazing, but it close to people’s life and enough to impress the audience. The film start in flashback manner, a man who working at psychiatric hospital, he accidentally meted a patient who is his mom missing in 18 years. The story is simple but it can wake audience’s hidden emotion to mom.

Secondly, it is the influence of music- [mom is the best in the world]. This movie put music in right position to emphasize the phenomenon in order to communicate the emotion with audience. Most of audience all knew this song, when the story going to highlight, like mom and son faced a lot difficult and they finally separated. And in this moment, this song starts playing combined with the plot, it let the story more attractive and audience enjoy in it.

Thus, in my memory, this song brings a lot memory about my mom. Especially I am study abroad now, my mom have a long distance with me. And this song also can explain my homesickness.
